Sanity With each run in with creatures and events that defy human logic, a hunter is at constant risk of going insane. Maintaining their mental health is paramount but sometimes hunter's can be overwhelmed while out on missions. Random Encounters play a pivotal role in the difference between a hunter overcoming shock in a mission or falling into a gibbering mess when their mind finally breaks. There is no recovery from falling into insanity, those that succumb are visited with death shortly after.
There are ways to recover sanity, they involve purchasing entertainment or simply resting. Performing a quest in Briar Glen can even restore a point of sanity in exchange for 50 experience points. Sanity is measured in 6 levels. 5 - Healthy
4 - Distressed
3 - Unhinged
2 - Breaking

0 - Insanity Examples of InjuryA hunter has encountered a tier 3 monster. An encounter with this monster, according to its bestiary entry, can inflict up to 3 insanity or Insanity (3). This takes their Sanity status from 5 (Healthy) down to 2 (Breaking). Attacks to sanity cannot be distributed between multiple hunters, everyone takes the same hit across the board. Permanent Damage
